2021 Rental Assistance Now Available
The Paso del Norte Community Foundation is pleased to announce $13.08 million in rental assistance from the City and County of El Paso to eligible landlord and tenant starting this week through EPRentHelp.org. The program, established last year in partnership with the City of El Paso, was expanded in 2021 to help prevent evictions and homelessness. Landlords may enroll starting April 19th; Tenants may apply starting April 22nd.
To be eligible, tenant applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Reside within the City or County of El Paso
- Earn income at or below 80% of Area Median Income
- Be adversely impacted due to COVID-19
Assistance is available for up to twelve months past due and three months future rent, depending on eligibility and source of funding.
The PDN Community Foundation managed $7 million in rental assistance in 2020 with funding from the City of El Paso through the federal Treasury CARES Act and CDBG-CV in partnership with nonprofit organizations BakerRipley, Under One Roof, and Connective. More than 3,000 tenants received assistance through the program. 74% of funds were committed to tenants whose income was at or below 30% of Area Median Income.
