Over 1 million dollars raised to support local nonprofits
The Paso del Norte Community Foundation sincerely thanks the community of El Paso for the incredible generosity shown during our 6th Annual El Paso Giving Day campaign! More than 5,600 unique donors gave 7,509 gifts to 213 registered nonprofit organizations to help meet the needs of our community’s most vulnerable populations. In total, $1,192,816 was raised by October 21st, including over $200,000 in matching funds and $32,264 in incentive prizes.
This year, donors of all ages logged in ready to give to their favorite organizations and participate in friendly competitions that could help participating organizations potentially win extra dollars throughout the day.
“We had new fundraising opportunities this year in partnership with Orangetheory Fitness, Kendra Scott, Chipotle, and Chuco Relic,” says Casie Pedregon, Development Coordinator for the PDN Community Foundation. “The support we received from local businesses was awe-inspiring. They truly embodied the giving spirit.”
As this exciting day continued, nonprofits showcased the missions of their organizations and engaged with donors through creative on-line strategies. Before noon, over $500,000 had been donated.
“This year was definitely unique! Registered nonprofits were utilizing their social media accounts, creating fundraising pages, sending e-mail blasts, and calling supporters one by one in hopes to reach their fundraising goals. The excitement and spirit of giving was really in the air!”
In addition to gifts from individual donors, Walmart and Helen of Troy gave matching dollars to help organizations maximize their gifts. Each year the generosity shown by corporate sponsors provides nonprofits with additional dollars that help them continue to serve our region.
“Every single dollar given to an organization through El Paso Giving Day goes back to the donor’s selected organization,” adds Pedregon. “The Paso del Norte Community Foundation does not profit from this annual day of giving; we strive to assist our partnering organizations in their missions and impact.”
El Paso Giving Day is an initiative of the Paso del Norte Community Foundation, which helps nonprofit organizations reach their fundraising goals, new donors, and spread awareness about their vital programming. This Giving Day proved that even in a pandemic, we are ready to support one another in the spirit of El Paso Strong.
