PdNCF announces GECU as a Partner in Philanthropy

The Paso del Norte Community Foundation is proud to announce the GECU Foundation as one of our Partners in Philanthropy.

One of the PdNCF’s four priority areas, Nonprofit Investment includes supporting the growth of nonprofit/designated funds, including endowment funds for nonprofit sustainability, as well as providing training for nonprofit organizations for capacity building and growth.  The nonprofit sector is an economic driver of our community and as nonprofits focus on delivering their missions across myriad charitable purposes, they don’t often have additional resources to support professional development programs or paid internships.

We are truly grateful to our Partners in Philanthropy, like the GECU Foundation, who have made a financial contribution in support of our Nonprofit Investment priority area and who are helping our local nonprofits continue to be economic engines in our community through professional development, partnership, and collaboration.

The GECU Foundation is GECU’s philanthropic arm that works together with its employees, members and the community at large to support charitable causes that focus on developmental issues that affect our community.

Primarily, the GECU Foundation seeks to support organizations that share the same passion and vision for elevating our community through education, health initiatives, community programs, charitable giving, volunteerism, community and stakeholder partnerships, and fundraising.

“By becoming a partner in philanthropy of the PdNCF, the GECU Foundation looks forward to supporting enhanced community impact on projects that significantly improve regional health, education, economic development, and quality of life; promoting sustainable development through initiatives that create lasting positive change; and measuring the impact of contributions and ensure accountability,” says Executive Director of the GECU Foundation, Emmeline Garcia.

Notably, the GECU Foundation launched its first-ever Matching May campaign. The campaign supports 12 local nonprofits dedicated to addressing the critical needs of the region. During the month of May, the GECU Foundation is matching every dollar raised, up to $12,000, for each of the 12 selected organizations including Junior Achievement of El Paso, Strive Now, Kelly Center for Hunger Relief, Lighting Campus for Hope of TTUHSC El Paso, Opportunity Center for the Homeless, Amistad, Project VIDA, Community en Accion, Make-A-Wish, Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Paso, YWCA of El Paso, and Candlelighters of El Paso.

Each of the nonprofit organizations that the GECU Foundation supports focuses on eliminating at least one of the 12 core development issues that are barriers to financial well-being such as hunger relief, housing assistance, transportation services, and more.

The GECU strives to continue its impact and fulfill charitable giving commitments, increase fundraising, and continue to support GECU’s mission and goals and the credit union movement including expansion into new communities.

Thank you, GECU Foundation for your partnership and supporting our growing community of philanthropy!
