Make it a reality with one of three scholarships established through the Paso del Norte Community Foundation. It’s mindful giving like this that opens the doors of higher education for deserving young students. Genius.


The Carl L. and Sandra E. Wright Scholarship for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) - $5,000

Carl and his wife Sandra established this scholarship to support female undergraduate STEM students, in honor of the outstanding women scientists and engineers Carl has had as colleagues. One or more $5,000 grants will be made each year and awarded to a female undergraduate student, majoring in a STEM field, who has excelled in her studies and demonstrates significant career potential. Eligibility: Entering high school graduates and continuing undergraduate students.


Nathan W. Jones Memorial Scholarship for Turf Management - $1,000

Nathan W. Jones was Head Groundskeeper for the El Paso Chihuahuas and a graduate from Michigan State University. His special warmth for El Paso is the reason the Jones family has offered this scholarship in his adopted hometown in appreciation to the Chihuahuas organization and the people of El Paso for making a wonderful impact on Nathan’s life. This scholarship is established for students who plan to study in the field of turf management, or current college students enrolled in a turf management program.


Richard A. Castro Community Service Scholarship - $1,000

This scholarship, established by CommUNITY en Accion in honor of Richard Castro, rewards eligible high school seniors who make significant community service contributions to their community through their volunteer work. Richard has earned an admirable record of philanthropy and community service. He has devoted much of his life and significant resources to creating opportunities for students to succeed, particularly those challenged by barriers to education.
