About the Deby Lewis Foundation
The Deby Lewis Foundation was established in 2016 in honor of Deby Lewis, a long-time Eastwood High School student activities director and Ysleta Independent School District school board trustee. The foundation is led by a volunteer board of directors committed honoring Deby's legacy by raising money to support scholarships for students graduating from Eastwood High School.
About Deby Lewis
Deby Lewis dedicated her life to education and students in general, specifically to the students and community of Eastwood High School. After graduating from Eastwood in 1970, and the University of Texas at El Paso in 1974, Deby began her teaching career in the Ysleta Independent School District at Eastwood as a tennis coach.
In her 36 years at Eastwood, her lasting legacy was as a student activities director, in which capacity she served not only Eastwood students, but also provided a shining example of leadership for student council sponsors across Texas and the United States. When Deby retired from teaching, she served on the Ysleta School Board from 2011 to 2015 as the representative for the Eastwood Learning Community. In her time on the board, she worked tirelessly to make sure that the schools in her area were afforded equal opportunities and that the students were receiving an unsurpassed education.
