FEMAP Foundation

About this Fund

The FEMAP Foundation established the Fund in 2015 to support scholarships for the FEMAP Nursing School in Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Located on the border in El Paso, Texas, the FEMAP Foundation is a non-profit foundation dedicated to helping FEMAP-SADEC, whose mission is to raise the quality of life among people living in poverty in Mexico, through a variety of health, economic, and social services. The FEMAP Foundation is equally committed to improving conditions on both sides of the border, through the support of many of FEMAP-SADEC’s programs. Through a Family Hospital, FEMAP has helped to build sustainable health programs, which focus on disease prevention, immunization campaigns, family planning, drug and alcohol-abuse prevention, and HIV/AIDS prevention. The FEMAP Foundation has funded many “community banks,” which are small groups of entrepreneurs who develop their own microenterprises.

The FEMAP Foundation helped build the Maria Guadalupe Arizpe de De la Vega School of Nursing in Cd. Juárez, for which this fund was established.

About the FEMAP Foundation 

The core of the FEMAP Foundation includes our commitment to provide resources to help others do well and realize their aspirations. In addition to raising contributions, our commitment is also evident in the development of community bi-national partnerships. This is not a recent activity. For 22 years, the FEMAP Foundation has regarded these partnerships as a fundamental part of what we do and who we are.

The FEMAP Foundation, founded by Adair Margo, is a U.S. based public charity, chartered as a Texas nonprofit corporation on July 13, 1992. It is tax exempt under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The FEMAP Foundation was established to provide support programs in our Regions which raise the quality of life of people living in poverty through health care, education, outreach and economic development.

Located in El Paso, Texas, on the U.S./Mexican border, the FEMAP Foundation along with FEMAP/SADEC in Ciudad Juárez provide links between the two cities and countries in order to address mutual economic needs and public health concerns. The FEMAP Foundation has grown over the past decade into an organization that is a strong advocate for the U.S./Mexico border region, and is an example of the goodwill that exists between both countries and peoples.

FEMAP Foundation also serves as a fiscal agent to American donors, restricted donor funds and to organizations wanting to work with Mexico to address mutual health concerns such as the Bi-national Tuberculosis Project. We believe that philanthropy is a two-way street between Mexico and the United States, and that the improvement of conditions along the border requires this kind of cooperation and technology transfer.
