Grant Writing for Grassroots
The Paso del Norte Community Foundation (PdNCF) is pleased to announce our first public, virtual workshop series Grant Writing for Grassroots. This three-part series includes information on best practices for grant writing. The PdNCF is providing this capacity-building workshop series in three parts, each covering unique ways to review the grant process, how to be the most prepared, and ultimately successful.
Expert grant writer, Kristen Hernandez- Ortega, will divulge the two major components of grant writing, which are most often overlooked: the fundamentals of grant writing and researching grants organizations are eligible for. Ms. Hernandez-Ortega will define key steps to identifying the perfect grant for your organization, leveraging the talents of your team, and simplifying the writing process. She will also define steps to easily assess your organization’s statement of need, project plan, milestones, and metrics.
Grant Writing for Grassroots will begin on May 26th at 11 AM MST via Zoom.
Session 1: May 26th @ 11 AM
Session 2: June 2nd @ 11 AM
Session 3: June 9th @ 11 AM
Registration is required to attend, and space is limited! This workshop series is free and open to all nonprofit professionals. All sessions will end with an open Q&A segment.

Kristen Hernandez-Ortega is an independent consultant serving the Paso del Norte region. She received her Bachelor of Health Promotion and Master of Public Health with a Hispanic and Border Health concentration from UTEP. In 2019, she began volunteering with Moms on Board of El Paso (MOB) under the Paso del Norte Community Foundation. Since then, she has stayed on the MOB team providing grant writing services, helping raise almost $345k in grant and other funds toward the Ascarate All-Abilities Playground signature project. She enjoys being a community practitioner and applying a broader lens of health in the spaces and places where we live, work, learn, and play!
